Walnuts
Walnuts
The MomaGreen Team aren’t big meat eaters so we are always looking for healthy substitutes for our family. Here is a super simple, healthy alternative and it’s simply walnuts! That’s it, just walnuts! To make this work you need to soak your walnuts for a few hours prior, so pop them in some water at lunch time if you plan to use this mince substitute for dinner. After a few hours simply drain your walnuts and pop them in the food processor, you don’t want to mush them just wiz them to a fine consistency (take a look at the photos if you aren’t sure), we used these to make taco mince, it was so delicious and you really can’t tell the difference.
Why walnuts? Because 25g of walnuts provides approximately 90% of your recommended daily intake of omega 3 fatty acids, they are a rich source of anti-oxidants and vitamin E and are packed with many important b-complex vitamins. That’s not all! The health benefits go on and on so getting your family to eat these nuts is an awesome thing to do.
